What the fitness industry is missing
I was in 7th grade when I decided I wanted to be a Physical Therapist. But unfortunately, sometimes just because you want something, doesn’t mean you’re going to get it. After working my butt off through college and applying to 8 different Physical Therapy schools, I was rejected every time.
Man, was that a demoralizing thing to go through. My dream was slowly being crushed with every small “rejection sized” envelope I got back, school after school. Was I deterred for a while? Of course, but I was also very determined. I’m a learner at heart so if I couldn’t go to PT school to learn, well then I would find another way.
And I did just that. I found an institute where I could learn from actual practicing Physical Therapists. No textbooks or tests. AND it was a very small fraction of the cost of PT school at a whopping $25,000. So for me it was a no brainer. I could get hands-on experience and avoid having to take tests because I was just a miserable test-taker.
So I spent a year being a sponge and soaking up as much knowledge as I could about how the body worked, what the biomechanics of movement looked like and how these physical therapists approached pain. Let me tell you, my world was flipped upside down. I geeked out so hard and transformed the way I thought about training my clients.
During my time at the institute, I realized that there was something missing in the fitness industry as a whole. There wasn’t much of an emphasis on restoration and modifying for people’s pain on the fly.
So this idea led me to create my signature style of combining performance and restoration into one workout. Clients get the best of both worlds without even realizing it. Because of the restoration aspect they can workout longer and you can keep them as a client longer without having to worry that once they say the P word (“pain”) they’re going to leave and seek medical advice.
I want to share with you the framework I created for my signature style which has three major components to it. BUT you’ll have to watch the video below to find out! So give it a watch and let me know your thoughts or questions.
